<p>A syringe filter 10 for containing a filter membrane 16 is disclosed and includes first and second fluid distribution surfaces 32, 60 configured to be positioned on opposing sides of a membrane 16. An inlet port 36 is in fluid communication with the first fluid distribution surface 32 and a first plurality of distribution pathways 34 formed on the first fluid distribution surface 32. An outlet port 52 is in fluid communication with the second fluid distribution surface 60 and a second plurality of distribution pathways 62 formed on the second fluid distribution surface 60. The first plurality of distribution pathways 34 is configured to distribute fluid flow from the inlet port 36 to one side of the membrane 16 while the second plurality of distribution pathways 62 is configured to direct fluid flow from another side of the membrane 16 to the outlet port 52.</p>
