PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of selecting a commodity wanted by a recipient of a gift in an easier way.SOLUTION: A commodity selection system in which a gift-sender selects a gift commodity to be presented to a gift-recipient, include: a server accessible to a database for storing a plurality of commodity information, and a purchase history database for storing a commodity purchase history of customers including the gift-recipient at one or more shops; and one or more terminals connected to the server. The server acquires a purchase history which is a list of commodities specified via the terminal by the gift-sender and purchased by the gift-recipient; selects one or more commodities on the basis of commodities included in the purchase history; and transmits the selected commodity as a candidate for a gift commodity to the terminal. The terminal shows a candidate for the gift commodity to the gift-recipient.
