PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic substance contained in a composite material for medical use, exhibiting slight cytotoxicity and thrombus formation, and forming a hydrogen cation inducing an antimicrobial effect when come into contact with an aqueous medium.SOLUTION: There is provided a composite material for attaining an antimicrobial effect, which includes an inorganic substance triggering formation of a hydrogen cation when come into contact with an aqueous medium and one or a plurality of materials in combination, in which the inorganic substance includes tungsten, and the composite material is present in the form of a layer or a constitutional element of a layer. Preferably, the inorganic substance includes one or a plurality of tungsten, tungsten alloys, and tungsten compounds, and the surface of the composition material includes a tungsten oxide layer. |
