Method of mapping the crystal orientation of a sample of polycrystalline material having undergone a step of mechanical shaping, the method comprising the steps consisting in: a) acquiring at least three images of said sample under directional lighting, each image corresponding to a different lighting and/or acquisition geometry; b) identifying crystal grains on said images, and associating with each of them a vector or matrix representative of luminous intensity values measured on various images in correspondence with said grain; and c) determining the crystal orientation of each said grain as a function of the corresponding vector or matrix; said steps being implemented after said step of mechanical shaping and before any operation of chemical etching or polishing of the surface of the sample. |
