PURPOSE: A die coater is provided to obtain an application membrane which has low variation of the thickness of the membrane through a longitudinal direction by properly changing the applying width from the longitudinal direction of the slot. CONSTITUTION: A die coater comprises a supplying part (31) which supplies an application fluid to a first side from the longitudinal direction of a cavity; a discharging part (33) which discharges the application fluid from a second side from the longitudinal direction; a detecting part (61) which detects the thickness of the application membrane which is formed on the material; a control part (63) which controls the discharging rate of the application fluid from the cavity of the discharging part and supplying flow rate of the application fluid from the cavity of the supplying part base on the detected result of the detecting part which is generated by changing the applying width from the longitudinal direction of the slot.
