PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of appropriately detecting an edge of an image including a halftone dot.SOLUTION: An image processing device comprises: a smoothing unit which smooths original image data including a halftone dot to generate smoothed image data; a binary image data generation unit which performs first edge detection processing for the smoothed image data to generate first binary image data including edge pixel data and non-edge pixel data; a processing image data generation unit which performs synthetic processing to generate processing image data; and a processing unit which performs other processing including second edge detection processing for the processing image data. The synthetic processing includes processing for setting a value of pixel data corresponding to the edge pixel data in the first binary image data among a plurality of pixel data in the processing image data to a value of the corresponding pixel data in the original image data and a value of pixel data corresponding to the non-edge pixel data to a value of the corresponding pixel data in the smoothed image data. |
