[Class 99 (i)] An expansion joint comprises three aligned bellows, of which the central one, 52, is of larger diameter than the outer ones, 50, 51, the central bellows being adapted to contract when the outer ones expand, and vice versa. The end walls of the bellows comprise outer flanges 59, 60 which are fast on tubes 64, 65, and intermediate loose flanges 61, 62, the alternate flanges 59 and 62 being connected by bolts 67, and the alternate flanges 61 and 60 being connected by bolts 72. Bolts 67 and 72 enclose the bellows, are arranged alternately around the circumference of the joint, and are equally spaced. Securing rings 53 ... 58 connect the bellows members to the flanges with interposed packing 63. A sleeve 66 bridges the ends of the tubes 64, 65, the length of the tubes and sleeve being such that they act as limit stops. |
