PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting cattle estrus using sound data are provided to rapidly detect the generation of cattle estrus based on a sound signal in real time. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting cattle estrus using sound data comprises: a signal receiving part which receives a sound signal obtained in real time; a characteristic detecting part which extracts a feature vector from the sound signal; an estrus generation detection part which determines whether the feature vector is sound generated from a cattle in heat through one among a support vector machine (SVM) and a single class SVM; and an alarm part which outputs a warning signal informing estrus generation based on the result of the estrus generation detection part. A method for detecting cattle estrus through the apparatus for detecting cattle estrus comprises: a step of receiving a sound signal which is obtained in real time (S310); a step of extracting a feature vector from the sound signal (S320); a step of determining whether the feature vector is sound generated from a cattle in heat through one among a support vector machine (SVM) and a single class SVM (S330); and a step of outputting a warning signal informing estrus generation when the sound is generated from a cattle in heat (S350).
