The invention relates to automotive engineering and specifically to the design of shock absorbers and pillars. The invention comprises a housing, a cylinder, a rod, a piston valve, a regulating bush, a grooved bar which is telescopically mounted in the rod, and a bottom valve. The grooves in the bar are formed in helical fashion with a constant or variable twisting angle with respect to the axis of the rod and are brought into contact with supports formed on the rod or parts thereof, and the end of the bar is fixed in the area of the bottom valve to prevent rotation and/or axial movement. A guide support, by travelling along a groove in the bar, turns the regulating bush or the bar, and the openings in the rod or in the valve are covered, thereby changing the quantity of liquid passing through. The end of the bar in the area of the bottom valve is in the form of an additional valve with channels adjoining the openings in the bottom valve. Automatic adjustment of the forces of the shock absorber is achieved depending on the position of the rod, as is readjustment of the shock absorber without dismantling being required. |
