PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic attraction type sheet conveying device allowing high-speed and stable sheet conveyance, without causing double feed, while reducing the time required for supplying a paper sheet, and improving productivity.SOLUTION: A sheet conveying device includes an electrostatic attraction belt 13A, a belt driving means 17 for rotating the belt, and a sheet restraining means for restraining a sheet end part 1B downstream in a conveying direction of a sheet placed in a sheet storage part. The electrostatic attraction belt 13A is bent at an end part 13G downstream in a conveyance direction of a sheet attraction face 13F, to form an inclined face 13H. A control part is provided to control the belt driving means, so that a belt conveyance amount x falls within a range represented by the following mathematical formula: (&thetas;/sin&thetas;-1)L≤x<(1/cos&thetas;-1)L, on the basis of a belt inclined angle &thetas; formed with respect to the uppermost sheet 1A by the sloped face 13H, and a sheet deflection formation distance L from the sheet end part 1B restrained by the sheet restraint means 23 up to the end part 13G downstream in the conveyance direction of the sheet attraction face 13F. |
