PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device capable of serving as a light-transmissive display device.SOLUTION: An electrophoretic display device encapsulates a display medium including at least one or more kinds of electrophoretic bodies between two opposing substrates at least one of which is transparent. The display medium displays predetermined information while a predetermined electric field is given between the two substrates. Various kinds of electrodes are formed in a predetermined pattern on one substrate and a transparent electrode is formed on the other substrate. Transparent barriers are formed in a predetermined pattern on the one substrate having the various electrodes thereon. Regarding each area blocked by the barrier as a cell, the display medium is contained in the cell. The other substrate is adhered on a top face of the barrier. Whole light transmittance from the one substrate to the other substrate according to JIS-K7361 is 30% or more. |
