PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an immersion tube of a molten metal refining apparatus, which has a long working life as compared with conventional immersion tubes and in which construction of a refractory can be relatively easily performed, and a construction method of a refractory in the immersion tube.SOLUTION: An immersion tube of a molten metal refining apparatus includes a core metal 1 having a cylindrical shape, a flange 3 which is connected with an open end 1a of the core metal 1 and interconnects the immersion tube and a vacuum treatment tank, and a monolithic refractory layer 4 which surrounds an inside wall 1b, a tip 1c, and an outside wall 1d of the core metal 1 and buries the core metal 1 in the inner part thereof. Among the monolithic refractory layer 4, in the monolithic refractory layer 4 surrounding the outside wall of the core metal 1, there is provided a butt joint part 5 consisting of at least two lateral abutting surfaces 5a and 5b which vertically divide the monolithic refractory layer 4 along the axial center direction of the core metal 1, and one end of which reaches the outside wall 1d of the core metal 1 and the outside surface of the monolithic refractory layer 4, respectively, to form a difference in level therebetween, and a vertical abutting surface 5c which interconnects each of the other end of these lateral abutting surfaces 5a and 5b. |
