PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair growth promoter, a hair regrowth promoter, or a remedy for alopecia by determining an endogenous factor inhibiting hair growth and performing screening for a substance inhibiting the activity or expression of the endogenous factor.SOLUTION: It is found that FGF18 inhibits hair growth, and a method for performing screening for an FGF18 activity inhibitor or an FGF18 gene expression inhibitor to use the inhibitor as a candidate for a hair growth promoter, a hair regrowth promoter, and a remedy for alopecia is provided. Further, a hair growth promoter, a hair regrowth promoter, or a remedy for alopecia containing an FGF18 activity inhibitor and/or an FGF18 expression inhibitor such as a partial peptide of FGF18 or a hot water extract of Momordica charantia as an active ingredient is also provided. |
