PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium exhibiting good low-temperature stability, low rotational viscosity and short response time.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal medium preferably contains at least one compound selected from compounds represented by formula (IA-1a) and formula (IA-1d) and other compounds constituted of a cyclohexane ring and a phenyl ring, and has a negative dielectric anisotropy based on a mixture of a polar compound. The liquid crystal medium is used for an active matrix display based on ECB, PALC, FFS or IPS effect. |
