The sensor (10) has an electrode system (12) comprising a pair of electrodes, which comprise an electrode (14) of an electrode structure (16) and another electrode (18) of another electrode structure (20). The electrodes produce an electrical potential difference. The electrode structures are located on an electrically insulative substrate (22). Distance between the electrodes is greater than or equal to 200 Nm. The electrode structures form an inter-digital electrode system with two or multiple comb-like inter-digital electrodes. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a particle sensor.
