The method involves implementing a lambda control, with which a correction factor (30) is determined for the lambda value. One value is used for controlling the pressure of fuel to be injected based on the correction factor, if a pressure sensor for measuring the pressure of fuel to be combusted becomes incorrect. Another value is used for determining an injection time for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine based on the correction factor. The former value is used as an integral component (32) of the correction factor. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for operating an internal combustion engine.
