The drive has a distributor chamber (3) containing cold gas, which flows via a non-return valve (10) by a follow-up movement of an expansion turbine (8). The cold gas from a circuit (8a) is compressed by process gas of a closed process circuit (1a). The cold gas is conducted into the process circuit through the non-return valve via a conveyor turbine (4) and an inflow valve (2). Heat exchangers (6, 9) transfer or guide back heat of the circuit to the process circuit. A residual heat-heat exchanger (11) discharges residual heat.
