[Class 29] Means are provided for sealing against entrance of moisture and heat the opening around the setting knob 24 of the shaft 20 of an adjustable thermal control member having a sensitive element located adjacent the usual cooling unit of the storage space. The switch casing 19 of the thermal control device is secured to a bracket 26 adapted to be secured to the upright wall 22 of a top sheet metal cover of the cabinet. A cup-shaped member 40 accommodating the knob is sealed by a packing ring 43 in an opening of the wall 22, and another packing ring 44 forms a seal between the knob and the cup-shaped member and has a sleeve portion embracing the stem 25 of the knob. The knob preferably has semicircular finger recesses and the handle portion 52 carries or is formed as a pointer co-operating with marks 59 on an escutcheon plate 54, which has a snap-on fit on a flange of the cup-shaped member. The insulated top wall has a removable portion to permit assembly of the control before or after the top wall has been fitted. The knob and escutcheon plate are preferably concealed by the upper part of the cabinet door when closed. |
