The disclosed ladder stabilising device consists of struts attached to each side rail of a ladder by means of hinged joints. The length of the struts and the height up the side rail of the attachment points are such that on deployment the struts make an angle of about 30 degrees with the side rails and thus effectively widen the base of the ladder. When not in use, the struts are folded upwards and held against the side rails by catches.
