PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurizing agent capable of effectively carrying out desulfurization at a low temperature (450°C or less).SOLUTION: A desulfurizing agent contains secondary particles formed by aggregating a plurality of primary particles of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)), and the content of the calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)) contained in the secondary particles is 70% or more based on the total content of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)), calcium carbonate (CaCO) and calcium oxide (CaO).
