PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally set whether priority is given to the prevention of the occurrence of vignetting or priority is given to the speed of separation drive, according to a use state and the taste of a user, when a rotary optical element such as a polarizing filter is driven to be separated from an insertion position to a separation position.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes the rotary optical element rotated around the optical axis of a photographic optical system on the optical path of the photographic optical system, an insertion/removal drive mechanism performing the insertion and removal drive of the rotary optical element between the insertion position onto the optical path of the photographic optical system and the separation position from the optical path of the photographic optical path, an input part inputting a separation drive instruction signal for performing the separation drive of the rotary optical element from the insertion position to the separation position, a separation drive mode setting part setting a vignetting prevention priority separation drive mode or a speed priority separation drive mode, and a control part controlling the separation drive of the rotary optical element by the insertion/removal drive mechanism, in a different aspect, according to the separation drive mode set by the separation drive mode setting part, when the input part inputs the separation drive instruction signal. |
