PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of LED elements which allows for increase of luminous intensity without causing breakdown of the LED elements, while preventing power from being wasted by a current limiting resistor, and the like, and to provide a power supply for driving.SOLUTION: A power supply for driving LED elements has at least one block consisting of an array of arbitrary number of LED elements. A signal current for controlling operation of the LED elements in the block is divided into a plurality of signal currents. An allowable forward current of duty ratio correspondence is conducted to the LED elements by one of the plurality of signal currents for an allowable time, and a rated forward current, not causing breakdown of the LED elements, is conducted to the LED elements by another of the plurality of signal currents for an allowable time. The LED elements are driven by performing two kinds of conduction periodically, and the difference of voltages corresponding to the rated forward current and allowable forward current is generated by the LED elements. |
