PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of restraining degradation in image quality and releasing performance, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A releasing pad 64 has a curved face 64c formed downstream of a pressing face 64b in the moving direction of a fixing belt 610. The place where the pressure of the fixing belt 610 on a pressure roll 62 is released is between the curved face 64c and pressure roll 62. Paper passed through a pressing area is released from pressure in the pressure releasing place. In the pressure releasing place, the fixing belt 610 is curved because the curved face 64c is pressed. Consequently, the paper that has reached the pressure releasing place is released from the pressure applied by the pressure roll 62, and cannot follow a change in the fixing belt 61 in its advancing direction.
