PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device performing the display just before user's eyes, wherein a display device performing display of an information image in a part of a screen is assumed to realize the improvement in the visibility of the information image displayed by the device and the improvement in user's usability. SOLUTION: The display of various kinds of the information image is performed in an image display region as a part within the display screen. The display of, for example, the image based on the picked-up image, the image based on received data, and the image based on the reproduced data, and the like is performed in the partial region of the display screen. The visibility of the display screen is improved by controlling the transmittance of the image display region to the transmittance different from that in other than the image display region. Also, the transmittance of the image display region is automatically set or variably adjusted according to external light or a processing program (application to be started) or is set or variably adjusted according to user's behavior or conditions.
