The invention proceeds from a hammer percussion mechanism having at least one percussion means (12a; 12b), a tool chuck drive shaft (14a; 14b) and a coupling means (16a; 16b) which is provided to transmit a rotary movement from the tool chuck drive shaft (14a; 14b) to a tool chuck (18a; 18b).It is proposed that the coupling means (16; 16b) is provided to transmit the rotary movement to the tool chuck (18a; 18b) through a cutout (20a; 20b) in the percussion means (12a; 12b).
