PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the interference of a pilot signal from the other cell or the other sector with which a mobile station does not communicate. SOLUTION: A communication method of a base station which transmits a pilot signal to a mobile station together with data by OFDM includes steps for: determining whether the data and the pilot signal are transmitted to the mobile station according to a MIMO communication method of multi-datastream transmission or according to a single-input multiple-output communication method of single-datastream transmission; disposing a pilot signal transmitted in a predetermined cell from the base station during the single-datastream transmission and a pilot signal transmitted in an adjacent cell neighboring to the predetermined cell from a base station different from that base station during the single-datastream transmission in such a way that these pilot signals are not overlapped to each other in a frequency direction; and transmitting the data and the pilot signal to the mobile station together with control information indicating whether transmission is performed by the multi-datastream transmission or by the single-datastream transmission.
