<p>The device has a funnel-shaped intake region (6) narrowing asymmetrically in an arc running direction with respect to a longitudinal center axis. Arc extinguishing plates (1, 1') are alternately arranged one above the other at a longitudinal center axis for formation of an arc-extinguishing plate stack (2). The arc extinguishing plates are reflected one above other at the longitudinal center axis, so that each arc extinguishing plate is partially covered with the adjacent arc extinguishing plate at intake legs (8, 8 ') in a stacking direction.
