559,496. Filling skips. WOODALL-DUCKHAM (1920), Ltd., JACKSON, G. J., and ENOCH, F. Sept. 11, 1942, No. 12812. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XVIII] Means for discharging a shoot or hopper 4 into a skip &c. 6, comprises an open-topped container 5 pivoted at 7 to a stationary framework. A descending skip 6 is sheered off by curved rails 18 on the framework from fouling the container 5, but is guided by a stationary incline 17 to strike a roller 9 on a projection 8 extending from the lower side of the container. This tips the load into the skip and at the same time brings a curved rear plate 10 over the mouth of the shoot to prevent leakage. In rising, the filled skip strikes the lip of the container 5 to tilt it back into position for receiving another load of material. Masses 14a, 15a are adjusted so that. the container is in stable equilibrium both when raised, and either empty or full, and when lowered. A slide 12 regulates the amount of material passing, and the shoot is cut away at 13 to facilitate the passage of the plate 10 through the material. The skip may approach the container 5 in inclined or in a horizontal direction. |
