Requests for data are received from locatable browsing clients that include the IP address of the internet service provider to which each of the locatable browsing clients is connected and geo-location data (e.g. longitude and latitude coordinates) identifying the physical location of each of the locatable browsing clients. These requests are stored in records of a first database. A query 801 is then performed 802 on the first database to identify records where the originating IP addresses match and the geo-location data match within a threshold range. The results of the query are then stored in records of a second database 803. The records of the second database can then be used to provide location-specific data to clients (i.e. that do not provide their own geo-location data to service providers) in a web server implementation or make bids on advertising opportunities based upon a browsing client's location. |
