<p>A weed wiper system and apparatus includes a frame (11, Fig 1) with an attachment arrangement for attachment to a vehicle and a plurality of wiper elements (15, Fig 1) distributed across the width of the frame. Each wiper element includes an absorbent material (17, Fig 1) and a fluid outlet for supply of fluid to the absorbent material, such that fluid is wiped onto weeds as the apparatus moves over them. In a first embodiment the system may include sensors 103 for detecting the moisture content of the wiper elements 102 and a number of controllable elements 107 for controlling the feed rate of fluid to the individual elements and a controller 106 for enabling control of the moisture content of the wiper elements through the controllable elements. In a second embodiment a positioning system 120 (such as a GPS device) may be included and steering instructions may be provided to a driver through a display unit 121 controlled by a controller which receives position information from the positioning system. In a third embodiment, a side frame (214, Fig 4) may be attached to the first frame (210, Fig 4), both frames being height adjustable. In a further embodiment a side frame may be attached to the first frame wherein wiper elements disposed on the two frames (211, 215, Fig 4) are arranged to overlap at one edge, such that there is no gap in chemical application between the two frames. In a fifth and final embodiment of the system, a suspension system (233, Fig 4) may be provided.</p> |
