PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nip roll mechanism which is economical and achieves precise positioning motion and long stroke retreat motion. SOLUTION: The mechanism includes air cylinders 9 which move intermediate slide components 5 along motion guide shafts 4, male screws 14 of ball screws whose upper ends and lower ends are supported rotatably by upper side slide components 6 and lower side slide components 7, nuts 16 of ball screws fastened to the intermediate slide components 5, motors 19 attached to the upper side slide components 6 to rotate the male screws 14, and a nip roll 3 which is supported between a left and a right vertical frames 1 by bearings 20 of rotation components fixed to the lower side slide components 7. The motion of the nip roll 3 from a home position to the retreat position is performed by the cylinder 9, while the positioning motion from the home position is managed by the motor 19 and ball screws 14, 16. Thus, the mechanism enables highly precise motion in the positioning of the nip roll 3 and also long stroke retreat motion of the nip roll 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
