<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing load while diagnosing the defect of a storage device provided in a device that controls an electric power steering device. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 101, a ROM 102 and a RAM 103 are used for controlling the electric power steering device. The ROM 102 and the RAM 103 store information used for controlling the electric power steering device, and are divided into a plurality of areas. Each of the plurality of areas corresponds to each of prescribed processing units in the control of the electric power steering device.
