PURPOSE: An adaptive equalization method using the detection of the size of intersymbol interference (ISI) and an adaptive equalizer using the same are provided to minimize ISI in an adaptive manner. CONSTITUTION: An adaptive equalizer includes an equalizer (510) and an ISI level detector (520). The equalizer equalizes an input signal. The ISI level detector measures the size of a measurement signal which includes ISI elements from a signal inputted through the equalizer, measures the size of a reference signal which does not include ISI elements, and determines the size of ISI by comparing the size of the measurement signal and the size of the reference signal. The equalizer equalizes the input signal based on the equalization control code determined according to the size of ISI. |
