PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING EPOXY RESIN

PURPOSE: A process for producing a phosphorous containing epoxy resin is provided to produce a phosphorous containing epoxy resin having a low molecular weight, low viscosity, and rendering less crystallization of phosphorous containing phenol compound by using a certain phosphine catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A process for producing a phosphorous containing epoxy resin includes a step of reacting a phosphine catalyst as essential element represented by the formula (1) having an epoxy resin (a) and a compound (b) with a functional group reacting to the epoxy group. The compound (b) having the reactive functional group has a phenol compound containing phosphorous as an essential component represented by the formula (2). The epoxy equivalent of the phosphorous epoxy resin resides in a range of 60 to 90% of the theoretical epoxy equivalent.
