A device and a method for controlling a fan are provided to control a blowing fan of a computer system effectively in consideration of the temperature of all temperature sensors respectively installed at a different position. A plurality of temperature sensors(30A,30B) detect temperature at respective different positions. A plurality of blowing fans(50A,50B) are installed to respective temperature sensors. A chipset(10) controls each blowing fan by using temperature information of all temperature sensors. The chipset controls operation of the blowing fan according to a value, which is calculated by multiplying a difference value between current temperature detected from each temperature sensor and the minimum temperature starting temperature control by a weight of each blowing fan, multiplying the current temperature detecting from the remaining temperature sensors and the minimum temperature starting the temperature control in the predetermined blowing fan by the weight of the blowing fan to be operated, and adding two calculated values and a minimum RPM(Rotation Per Minute) of the blowing fan to be operated. |
