PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing an advertisement are provided to activate an advertisement application in a terminal when the terminal tries to access to a wireless Internet network for providing an advertisement, and to provide a wireless data server after providing the advertisement. CONSTITUTION: A terminal (10) in which an advertisement application is installed requests a packet processing server (20) for Internet access according to a request from a user who wants to receive a wireless data service. A monitoring server (30) transmits authentication request/response messages that are exchanged between the packet processing server and an authentication/charging server to an advertisement server (50), to authenticate the terminal that has requested the Internet access. The advertisement server transmits advertisement content to a terminal when receiving a request for advertisement content from the terminal, and transmits information of the terminal that has downloaded the advertisement content as compensation information to a charge calculating server (70). The charge calculating server calculates compensation money for a user and charges the user for use of the wireless data service after subtracting the compensation money from a total charge when calculating and charging for use of the wireless data service.
