PURPOSE: A composition for preventing and treating diabetes is provided to reduce resistance without side effects and harm to human body because the composition is derived from lichen-forming fungi and to effectively prevent and treat type 2 diabetes. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating type 2 diabetes contains one or more selected among a scytalone compound of chemical formula 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The scytalone compound and the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are isolated from Myelochroa genus lichen-forming fungi. The Myelochroa genus lichen-forming fungi are Myelochroa galbina.
