PURPOSE: An ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus and an operation method thereof are provided to enable a user to intuitionally recognize a scan mode of an object. CONSTITUTION: A probe (110) transmits an ultrasonic signal to an object (200), and receives an answer signal from the object. A detection unit (120) detects a sensor signal which includes at least one between the position information showing a three-dimensional position of the probe and the attitude information showing the direction of the object. A storage unit (130) stores the sensor signal by relating the sensor signal to the answer signal. An image processing unit (140) forms a presentation image which includes an ultrasonic image and an image pointer corresponding to the ultrasonic image. An output unit (150) outputs the presentation image.
