PURPOSE: A method for heating a metal slab is provided to counteract the temperature gradient in a metal slab by performing the local heating using a direct flame impingement (DFI) burner. CONSTITUTION: A method for heating a metal slab performs the following steps. The metal slab is carried vertically to the transverse direction in a length direction through an industrial furnace (1) in which a metal slab (4) is heated. The metal slab is carried on a rail device (101) from the industrial furnace to the following processing step (8). The temperature gradient in the metal slab which is generated as the result of the local cooling of the metal slab through the contact with the rail device is counteracted by the local heating using a DFI burner (102). |
