摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper-iron-based sintered metal bearing which can exhibit bearing performance equal to existing level or higher over a long period of time by achieving improvement in abrasion resistance and reduction in oil permeability at a low cost.SOLUTION: A sintered metal bearing is formed from a raw material powder essentially comprising a copper-based powder and an iron-based powder and has a radial bearing surface in the inner circumference. The copper-based powder used includes a fine copper powder which has such a particle size distribution that the proportion of particles having a diameter of less than 45 μm is 80 wt.% or more and occupies one-third by weight of the whole copper-based powder. A compressed body prepared by compression molding of the raw material powder is sintered at 900°C or more and 1,000°C or less.
