PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a pivot bearing device with a simple structure, high precision and high reliability at low cost and thus achieve a high-density magnetic recording device with high reliability.SOLUTION: A pivot bearing device 13 includes a shaft 21 and a plurality of rolling ball bearings 20 which are arranged in an axial direction and in which inner rings 27 are fixed on the shaft 21, wherein an outer ring 25 is fixed in a fixed hole of an arm via a tolerance ring and the pivot bearing device 13 swings around the shaft. The number of balls 26 of the ball bearings 20 and the number of teeth 12b of the tolerance ring pressing the outer rings 25 is relatively prime.
