PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission for a vehicle that reduces a sense of incongruity in operation between a forward first speed range and a reverse range while improving fuel efficiency during high-speed traveling.SOLUTION: Three rotational elements of each of first-fourth planetary gear sets 2-5 are arranged side by side at an interval corresponding to a gear ratio of planetary gear sets on a common velocity diagram and are set as first-twelfth elements in this arrangement order. Shafts and elements are constantly linked as follows: an input shaft 1 to a sixth element 31, an output shaft 12 to a seventh element 42, a first element 22 to a fifth element 34, and a fourth element 32 to a ninth element 41 and a twelfth element 51. A tenth element 52 is always fixed to a stationary section 13. A second element 24 can be fixed to a stationary section 13 by a first brake 6, can be linked to the fourth element 32, ninth element 41, and twelfth element 51 by a first clutch 8, and further can be linked to the input shaft 1 by a second clutch 9. A third element 21 can be fixed to the stationary section 13 by a second brake 7. An eighth element 44 can be linked to the input shaft 1 by a third clutch 10 while an eleventh element 54 can be linked to a seventh element 42 by a fourth clutch 11. |
