PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily screening a lactic acid bacteria strain having diacetyl productivity by PCR in a short time, and to provide a strain obtained by the same.SOLUTION: In a path generating diacetyl, a diacetyl production strain is easily and efficiently screened by PCR targeting an enzyme gene carrying the taking of citric acid into a bacterial cell. A selected lactic acid bacteria strain is obtained by this method, and the lactic acid bacteria strain is used to produce food and drink having an unprecedented strong flavor.
