PURPOSE: A hybrid-type valve actuator and control method thereof comprises a power supply unit equipped with a power supply control device enabling DC power to be supplied upon power outage along with a power transmission part equipped with a forced shutoff device that can compulsorily open and close the valve upon interruption of power supply from all sources. CONSTITUTION: A hybrid-type valve actuator includes the power supply unit(10), the actuator part(20), the valve part(30), the power transmission part(40). Said power supply unit includes the power supply control device (13) that supplies power through the DC power supply unit(12) upon sensing power outage of the AC power supply, and charges to said DC power supply unit through the charging module(15) while power is supplied through the AC power supply unit(11) if power outage is not sensed. Said actuator part includes the interface module(23) and the motor controller(22) equipped with the motor control module(24) that controls velocity, position and torque of said AC induction motor using information inputted from the current sensor(211) and the encoder(212). Said valve part is rotatably connected and includes the driving rod at an end equipped with a disk that opens and closes the fluid path. Said power transmission part is equipped with the forced shutoff device (41) that compulsorily opens and closes the fluid path when power fails to be supplied from said power supply unit.
