The gallium-68 generator can be used repeatedly for a long period. #CMT#INORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Components: The carrier material comprises inert inorganic oxide materials, preferably silica gel (preferred), silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, tin dioxide, aluminum oxide, zinc oxide, zirconium dioxide or hafnium oxide, inert organic polymers or copolymers, preferably styrene-divinylbenzene, polystyrene, styrene-acrylonitrile, styrene-acrylonitrile-methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile-methyl methacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, polyacrylates, acrylic or methacrylic esters, acrylonitrile unsaturated dicarboxylic acid-styrene or vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile. The silica gel exhibits an average grain size of 10-150 mu m and an average pore size of 6-50 nm. The parent nuclide germanium-68 is used in the form of a compound with oxidation number (IV). An aqueous solution of germanium-68(IV) salt, preferably germanium-68 aqua ions are used for immobilizing germanium-68 at trihydroxyphenyl groups. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Components: The trihydroxyphenyl groups comprise 1,2,3-trihydroxybenzene. The linker comprises 1,2,3-trihydroxyphenyltriethoxysilane. The trihydroxyphenyl group of the carrier material loaded with germanium-68 is treated with 0.05-0.5 M hydrochloric acid for specific elution of gallium-68 ion formed by radioactive decay of the parent nuclide. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# No suitable example given.
