PURPOSE: A method and a system for determining the harmfulness of an application are provided to automate a harmfulness analysis of the application and to determine the harmfulness with a code analysis, thereby removing the necessary to install the application or a specific module in a cellular phone. CONSTITUTION: A binary conversion unit (110) converts an executable file of an application into a binary code by using a reverse compiler. A target character line detecting unit (120) detects a target character line among character lines capable of being generated by the result of calculating the binary code. The target character line detecting unit includes a binary code analysis unit (122) detecting character lines capable of being generated by performing the converted binary code; and a target pattern character line detecting unit (124) detecting the target character line among the character lines by using normalized character arrangement patterns of the target character line.
