PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element having high photoelectric conversion efficiency.SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element includes: a first electrode; a second electrode; and an active layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The active layer contains an electron-donative polymer compound and an electron-accepting polymer compound. At least one of the electron-donative polymer compound and the electron-accepting polymer compound has an arylene group and a chain of one or more kinds of repetitive units selected from the group consisting of divalent heterocyclic groups. At least one of the electron-donative polymer compound and the electron-accepting polymer compound has a weight-average molecular weight of not less than 1000 nor more than 18000 in terms of polystyrene.
