PURPOSE: A lubricant control system for a machine tool and an operation method thereof are provided to prevent excessive lubrication by allowing lubricant to control the operation time of a main shaft motor and a transfer shaft motor. CONSTITUTION: A lubricant control system (100) for a machine tool is composed of a main shaft motor control unit, a transfer shaft motor control unit, a macro unit (140), a memory unit (130), and a programmable logic controller (PLC) unit (150). The macro unit analyzes the weight of a workpiece installed on a table and the load change of a transfer shaft motor and a main shaft motor to determine the optimal lubrication cycle. The memory unit stores the analyzed weight of the workpiece and the load change of the transfer shaft motor and the main shaft motor. The PLC unit controls lubricant supplied to the main shaft motor and the transfer shaft motor depending on the optimal lubrication cycle outputted from the memory unit.
