PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for production of an alkyl substituted cyclic ether from an easily obtainable alkyl substituted triol compound.SOLUTION: A process for production of an alkyl substituted cyclic ether shown by general formula (2) (wherein R represents a 1-5C alkyl group, and n represents 1 or 2) includes reacting alkyl substituted triol compounds shown by general formula (1) (wherein R and n are defined above) in the presence of a catalyst having both a dehydrating property and a hydrogenation property, or in the coexistence of a catalyst having a dehydrating property and a catalyst having a hydrogenation property in a hydrogen atmosphere.
