PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet exchange device which can reduce the time needed for identifying a trouble spot.SOLUTION: The packet exchange device comprises a plurality of line termination units 3a-n and a package exchange unit 4 which exchanges packets input from each of the line termination units 3a-n and also transmits packets to the outside from each of the line termination units 3a-n, and further includes the following between the line termination units 3a-n and the package exchange unit 4: an identification information addition unit 71 which adds identification information consisting of information on the packet exchange device and information on the line termination units 3a-n to the packets input via the line termination units 3a-n before transmitting the packets to the packet exchange unit 4; an identification information search unit 76 which searches for a packet among those transmitted to the packet exchange unit 4 which includes a set IP address; a search result storage unit 77 which stores therein the identification information of the packet searched by the identification information search unit 76; and an identification information removal unit 74 which removes identification information from packets when the packets are transmitted to the outside from the packet exchange unit 4.
